Hello world,
Here’s the story:
I was strolling through the park one day,
On a hot and sunny Austin day.
I was taken by surprise
by some soccer dribbling guys–
DONG!
and I ran into a pole that day!
I went face first into the pole. It was like the sound a ball makes when hit with a metal bat. Everyone around started laughing. I said, “I was looking at the soccer ball–I didn’t even see this pole! I was thinking I’ve never seen an orange soccer ball and then DONG! Oh man!”
One of the guys exclaimed laughingly, “It can only get better from here!”
“You’re right!” I replied as I walked away cheerful, “nowhere but up from here!”
Next day I inadvertently smashed into the fridge. What can I say? I wasn’t present in the moment at work. In fact, I was thinking about all the things I had to do except for watching where I was going.
Even though I face-planted the pole and ran into the fridge, I am still laughing about it.
Sometimes life reminds me I’m not perfect. It reminds me to laugh at myself, to accept who I am. It reminds me to laugh at life. It helps me let go of stress. It helps give me a break from my habits of hard work and responsibilities. The feeling of acceptance is a like momentary surrender to something that could be embarrassing, humiliating, irritating, shameful, rageful or make-you-feel-worthless and instead finding a feeling that is funny, amusing and cheerful.
It’s a good reminder to practice acceptance in your life.
When is the last time you slipped on a banana peel and laughed about it?
Peace,
Craig
